Arizona's Geology in a Necklace
Three beads balance from a black bar in this contemporary 16" necklace representing Arizona's Geological history. The large square bead is lava stone; the oval is lava with silver spilling over it and the irregular smaller bead is copper. Arizona had many volcanic flows where molten lava flowed over mountain edges. Sunset Crater is such an area near us. Silver mines were prevalent in Arizona's history as silver was also a byproduct of mining copper. Mining started in Globe AZ in 1873. By combining lava, silver and copper in this necklace we see a large part of Arizona's history.
